On 2 June, the Italian Republic, an Associate Member of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, celebrates the National Day and Republic Day.

JINR has maintained connections with Italian physicists since its foundation. The Institute and scientists of the Italian Republic currently cooperate on 17 topics of the JINR Topical Plan. In addition to external experiments, the partnership includes theoretical studies, neutron physics, superheavy element synthesis, radiobiology, information technology, and neutrino physics.
